Jill Kennedy runs a variety of day classes
in Silk Painting, Batik, Fabric Painting, Surface
Decoration and Textile Design.
|
Silk Painting 1: A course for the complete beginner, using iron-fix paints. Use of gutta, salt effect, watercolour, shading, wet into wet and double dipping. Silk Painting 2: Ideal for those with some knowledge of silk painting, this course will use steam-fix dyes. Discover the techniques of salt, sugar and alcohol, and experiment further with gutta (both clear and metallic). Learn how to fix your steam-fix dyes at home. Silk Painting 3: More silk painting techniques, including the use of wax, antifusant, salt, alcohol and monoprinting. This course will use steam-fix dyes. Batik: How to complete an original batik using wax and steam-fix dyes. Using a batik pot to melt your wax, you will gain experience of applying wax using tjantings and brushes, and you will have the chance to learn several techniques. This course is highly suitable for teachers wishing to teach Batik as a subject, as Batik and Resist Techniques are now on the National Curriculum. Discharge Techniques: Learn how to remove colour from dyed silk using Discharge Paste. Using WACO and Illuminant dyes, remove colour from the fabric and add a new colour at the same time. A Day Class costs generally about £30. A discount of £10 is given if Silk painting 1, 2 and 3 are booked. What is included in the Day Class: Unless otherwise specified, classes should include sufficient dyes, paints, fabrics and other materials. Extra materials are available for sale if necessary. All that you need to bring with you are an apron and rubber gloves. The cost of classes reflect the cost of materials provided for the day. There will be no more than 9 or 10 students in each class. Coffee/tea and biscuits are included in the price. Dependant on demand, continuation courses may be available for all techniques covered. Ideas for future classes are very welcome. All classes are run from 10.00am to 4.00pm, with a break for lunch. They are held at Rainbow Silks warehouse. Address: 6 Wheelers Yard, Great Missenden, Bucks HP16 0AL. Lunch is available locally in pubs, restaurants and from the local bakers, or you are welcome to bring your own. |
